Ryan Melvin proudly serves on the organization’s board, continuing a mission shaped by our own family’s experience. When Ryan’s daughter, Jasmine, was just two years old, she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, Ewing’s Sarcoma. Our family traveled across the Carolinas in search of the best care, meeting countless children and families facing similar battles along the way.
Jasmine died just six months after her diagnosis. While her passing devastated our family, it lit a passion for us to help others. This personal connection makes Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas the natural and meaningful first charitable partner for Melvin Made.

Children’s Cancer Partners serves children and youth battling cancer across the Carolinas, ensuring access to lifesaving pediatric cancer treatments and overcoming all the hidden costs beyond clinical care.
The Reality Families Face:
The problem is bigger than most people realize. Only larger cities have pediatric cancer treatment centers. Distance to cancer care is hard for most families: hours on the road, missed work and wages, childcare for siblings, and the relentless pressure of making treatment decisions while trying to keep life from falling apart. It’s scary, stressful, overwhelming.
Children in rural and low-income households and communities face 3X higher risk of missed or late diagnosis, incomplete treatments, relapse, or even death. These disparities are driven almost entirely by distance-to-care and limited family resources. In other words: geography and money threaten outcomes, and that’s unacceptable.
That’s why Children’s Cancer Partners exists. To our knowledge, no other nonprofit in the country provides our depth of immediate, comprehensive, and continuous support for children and families facing childhood cancer, especially the hidden expenses insurance doesn’t cover. Once a hospital social worker refers a family to CCP, they don’t offer a one-time fix. They stay with them, regardless of income or where they are in the journey, until the child’s 21st birthday.

When families have CCP's support, treatment stays on track - and they feel relief. They feel supported. They’re not trying to do the impossible alone.
This year, they will serve over 2,800 Carolina families, providing over $1,000,000 for meals and over 2 million miles of travel reimbursements, removing barriers that would otherwise keep care out of reach.
